IACP 2021 In-Person Event Cancelled
Due to Hurricane Ida’s effect on the Gulf Coast Region, the IACP made the decision to cancel the in-person portion of the 2021 conference, which was scheduled to take place in New Orleans.
At the beginning of September, the City of New Orleans as well as the State of Louisiana, were declared federal disaster areas. In a statement, the IACP said, “These realities, coupled with the fact that the New Orleans Police Department is wholly focused on protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of New Orleans, made holding a conference the size and magnitude of IACP 2021 impracticable.”
While we were looking forward to meeting with public safety professionals at the conference, this is a prime example of how police and other officials must be ready at any time to pivot and shift focus onto emerging crisis events.
